A lot of homeowners call us up wondering about central vacuum sales, and if they are getting a central vacuum that is adequate for their size home and a good deal. The answer to this question of course is all relative to the size of home that you have, and whether or not you’re willing to pay more for a quality central vac vs. one that has a cheaper motor. Either way, the rule of thumb within the industry is to take the size of your home, double it, then find a central vacuum system that’s rated up to that amount of sq. ft. Doing this insures that you’re going to have enough suction and you won’t be disappointed with your purchase.
Another aspect of central vacuum sales that you should be aware of that was previously mentioned is the type of motor that is located within your central vac. A good quality motor is the significant difference between cheaper systems, and the higher quality ones you will find on the market today. The tricky thing is figuring out what type of motor is in the power unit that you’re thinking on purchasing. Cheaper motors are usually thru-flow systems, these thru-flow motors are used in canister vacuums and can expel a lot of heat. If these systems are not properly vented, or if dust gets into the motor you can pretty much assume that you’re going to have problems. This is the main reason why higher quality central vac’s are manufactured with a bypass motor rather than a thru-flow. These bypass motors elimate these difficulties and also provide more suction.
Now that you’ve learned the in’s and out’s of the actual unit, we should talk about the best time to purchase a central vacuum and get a good sale. Every spring and fall a lot of brands will run their semi-annual special edition sales. These sales are a GREAT DEAL. Manufacturers make a limited amount of units that can be sold at a lower more cost effective price. The savings are passed directly onto the customers and they can usually buy a quality unit and attachment set for around $1000.00. Typically you save about 25% in comparision to the normal prices a manufacturer may set.
If you are thinking about purchasing a new central vacuum system for your home always consider the three most important things.
1) Quality
2) Warranty
3) Time you are buying
If you take these 3 things into consideration you’ll end up getting a great deal.
